Our Beliefs

Have you ever been around people who keep trying to reinvent themselves? One minute they’re Goth, the next minute they’re Green. The insecurity that drives them is so sad, but churches can be just as fickle. When we focus on pleasing the culture, we lose integrity, and dizzy those who are trying to keep up.

In our short history we’ve tried all kinds of things, some of which were born out of genuine faith, others were driven by anxiety. But what we keep coming back to, what unifies, excites and defines us, what gives us hope and courage, is a core set of Biblical convictions. They are the foundation of our church. We can move locations, change our methods, or experiment with new styles, but all we are ever trying to do is better express these truths:

Truth                The source of truth is Jesus. We know the truth objectively through His Word and personally by His Spirit (Jn.4:23; 14:6; 5:39-40; 2Ti.3:16; He.8:10-11).

God                  God is Trinitarian and we worship Him as Lord and Saviour, for He is unequalled authority and pure love (Ps.62:11-12; 2Co.13:14; 2Pe.3:18).

Relationship      Sin and selfishness break relationship; receiving and giving His love build secure and significant relationships (Ge.1:26; Mt.10:8, 22:37-40, 28:18-20).

Love                 Love is a motive of choosing others over self. It’s two main qualities are mercy (for criminals) and justice (for victims) (Zec.7:9; Ro.13:10; 1Co.16:14)

Discipleship      We follow Jesus through the "dip" of truth, repentance (choosing right relationship over sin) and faith (receiving Him as Lord and Saviour) (Pr.28:13; Mk.1:15;Ga 2:20 Php.2:5-11).

Gospel              Jesus' sacrifice fulfills our repentance: mercy forgives our crimes and grace empowers us to love and obey (Ac.2:38; Ro.1:21; 1Co.15:10; 2Th.1:8-9).

Church              We are a missional community of faith – a multi-generational, multi-cultural people movement (Mt.28:19; 2Co.5:18; Eph.2:19; 2Ti.2:2; 1Pe.2:9).

Ministry             All ministry is 100% man and 100% God, where we minister reconciliation, and God makes things grow (Lk.4:18-19; 1Co.3:6; 2Co.5:18).

Hope                Christ will establish His Kingdom on earth and we will be resurrected to live and rule with Him forever (Mt.6:10; 1Co.15:23-25; Rev.11:15-18, 20:6; 21:1-4).

Extra-Local Oversight

Every Nation Church Vancouver values oversight from its apostolic family called Every Nation. Every Nation’s three primary emphases are church planting, campus ministry and world missions. Since 1994, Every Nation has planted churches on six continents, including some countries historically most resistant to the Gospel, and now has over 400 churches and outreaches in 61 nations around the world. In 2007-2008 alone, Every Nation established more than 60 new church plants.

Every Nation’s extra-local leadership provides relational support and accountability to local churches through developing leadership, ordaining elders, mediating church conflicts, maintaining doctrinal and moral purity, and championing the ministry’s vision and values.
